Melon and ragweed There are some similar protein structures in ragweed and fruits, including banana, melons, zucchini and cucumber.

Someone who is ragweed-allergic may react to these fruits, even if they?ve never been eaten before. And it works the other way, too: eating a lot of these fruits during ragweed season (usually mid-August to mid-October) can worsen ragweed allergy symptoms.
